Baroque Style: Sir Peter Paul Rubens

Films, television, novels, and music are works of art. Everything that employs design or style can interpreted as work of art. Style, design, and expression are evident even in documentary films and television programs that endeavor to place their messages above art. Photography and cinematography, while showing an unbiased, realistic element, are both art forms. The philosophy of art (aesthetics), is a broad subject which includes realism, expressionism, formalism, and contextualism. Design, as a subject of its own, is derived from the art factory. In the subject Graphic Design I, it is understood that inspirations for our design will come from numerous art forms, and artists who have manipulated the perspective of art forms and graphic designing. One such artist that inspires me is Sir Peter Paul Rubens. His creations are zestful recreations of the physical world. Following will be a short description of his painting style and some of his
masterpieces.

Baroque Style
This style uses exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted details that creates drama, tension, and grandeur in the produced painting. This style started in Italy during the 1600s. It is not just used in painting but also sculptures, literature, dance and music.

Sir Peter Paul Rubens
Peter Paul Rubens is a Baroque painter whose art emphasizes sensuality, dark colors and movement. Most of his paintings emphasizes emotions and his colors which are dark and crude.
Honeysuckle Bower
Honeysuckle Bower is a depiction of Rubens and his wife, and it shows the love and affection between them. The colors, dark red, blue and very dark green are done with oil painting, and it shows very beautiful movement between the husband and wife.

The Massacre of Innocents
This paintings shows a lot of Baroque style, mainly the dynamic emotions, the drama and the vivid colors.
The Hippopotamus and Crocodile Hunt
This large painting is shows the hunt on hippopotamus and crocodile using the dogs. In this painting, it can be seen that the painting was painted in dramatic diagonals that increases movement and makes the rich colors seem vivid.
